Lahore, 6 November 2019 – Islamabad United, the most successful franchise in Pakistan Super League history, and Dean Jones, the coach in each of the seasons of the PSL for the franchise, have agreed to part ways prior to the upcoming edition of the PSL.
Jones had taken over Islamabad United for the inaugural season of the PSL and had led the team to two PSL championships. The former Australian international spent four years with the franchise.
Regarding the move Ali Naqvi, the owner of the franchise said, “Deano’s achievements in setting up the identity of the franchise as the most successful one in the league are one of the keys for why Islamabad United is where it is. We would like to thank him for all that he has done for the franchise, and his mark will always be there on our team. Under his stewardship we’ve not only managed to be consistently successful team but he has also allowed our young players to blossom and take the leap to a higher level. He brought an ethos to our team that has served us well.”
“In preparation for the whole tournament moving to Pakistan and the natural progression of different members of the team, we have been evolving our plans and strategies over the past year. WE continue to believe strongly that the only way to remain successful in as competitive an environment as the PSL is via constant evolution.”
