How the draft works:
5 existing teams (Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings) will retain 10 players each. Players released from each franchise will go to the expansion draft, Multan Sultans will pick 10 players from these released players.
Player retentions:
2- Platinum
2- Diamond
2- Gold
3- Silver
1- Emerging
Expansion Draft (Multan Sultans):
2- Platinum
2- Diamond
2- Gold
3- Silver
1- Emerging
Players who have neither been retained nor picked up in the expansion draft will go into the main draft.
Main Draft:
There will be 6 categories in the main draft: Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Emerging & supplementary respectively.
Draft order:
1st pick: Lahore Qalandars
2nd pick: Islamabad United
3rd pick: Karachi Kings
4th pick: Quetta Gladiators
5th pick: Peshawar Zalmi
6th pick: Multan Sultans
Each team is allowed to pick a total of 5 foreign players in the first 16 picks & 2 in supplementary.
Trading:
Franchises can trade players for picks, cash or in exchange for another player.
Player categories:
-Local player categories have been decided by the national selection committee.
-Foreign players nominate a category for themselves after coordinating with the PCB
Rules:
-No franchise can directly sign a new player. New players have to first enter the draft & then have to be picked up in your assigned pick.
-Franchises can drop their existing player one category but if they do that, other franchises can pick that player up in his assigned category. The first right of retention still remains with a player’s existing franchise though.
