Islamabad United Hashtags
Islamabad, 25 January 2020 – Over the course of the HBL PSL Islamabad United have established themselves as the most successful franchise in the competition. Their journey began with a run to the final of the first edition of the PSL in 2016, winning six matches in a row, including the final itself – a PSL record that would stand until PSL 3. In 2018 they went one better, breaking their own record: seven wins in a row in the Round Robin stage before becoming the first, and thus far only, team to win multiple PSL titles.
The franchise has come to be defined by their hashtags. The most common one #UnitedWeWin tells of the foundation that the franchise has built itself upon. Right from the get-go Islamabad United’s ownership group and the staff have believed that the best way for a team to perform is to be greater than the sum of its parts, to get incremental gains from the intangibles. Within this philosophy is the belief that unity leads to success, and not the other way around.
Further elaboration on Islamabad United’s philosophy is presented by the usage of the hashtag #DimaghSe. Coined by Ali Naqvi, the phrase represents his and the franchise’s belief that while the rest of the cricketing world has come on leaps and bounds in professionalism, preparation and development, Pakistani cricket has, or was, being left behind by this movement. Islamabad United believes in bringing the best international practices to Pakistan cricket, via the medium of PSL, and among those is the belief that decisions taken from rational and logical reasons are more productive in the long term than those based on emotions. While passion remains integral to the sport, both within the dressing room and the fanbase, it should not lead to illogical decision making; thus the fortunes are determined #DimaghSe.
With the foundation of unity and rationality the team is put in the best position to succeed. This allows them to focus on the third hashtag of the franchise: #SherKiDhaar. The lion, which is part of Islamabad United’s core – as represented on the Franchise’s logo on their crest – represents the leadership, courage and nobility that Islamabad United as a franchise aims to represent.
Finally, the desire to excel with passion and vigour are represented by the fourth of Islamabad United’s hashtags: #RangJeetKaLaalHai.
Within these four is the core of Islamabad United’s beliefs, practices and aims – and they truly represent the franchise.
