After a very long time, Pakistani cricket has finally risen from the ashes and managed to organize the biggest Twenty20 Cricket League in Pakistan, with the name of Pakistan Super League (PSL). In September 2015, the Pakistan Cricket Board finally released the official confirmation regarding the Pakistan Super League, with the involvement of international cricket members, as well. Former captains Wasim Akram and Rameez Raja joined to end up as the brand diplomats of the PSL for the following three years. Following quite a long while of arranging, the association will formally start on February 4, 2016, in the United Arab Emirates, Sharjah.
With its emergence, PSL composes of five member clubs representing the five major cities of Pakistan – Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar. Each team will be playing 8 games, after which the top 4 groups with the best record will meet all requirements for the post season (or playoffs), coming full circle for the title diversion- the PSL Cup. PSL will take after the standards and regulations given by ICC which are followed by other cricket leagues.
Along with 308 local players, top international players have been reserved in for the inaugural season of Pakistan Super League PSL 2016, which incorporates players from all major cricket playing countries like Australia, England, Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and many others. PCB/PSL have selected five icon players where each team of PSL can only select one each. These include Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik from Pakistan along with West Indies opener Chris Gayle, England batsman Kevin Pietersen and Australian all-rounder Shane Watson. Moreover, Top international coaches from different countries have signed up on the Pakistan Super League roster. Eric Simons,Darren Berry,Chris Adams,Andy Moles,Gordon Greenidge, Mickey Arthur, Chaminda Vaas, Robin Singh and Dean Jones are some coaches that have confirmed their participation.
